The Guide Reloaded

Hello everybody. If you've been to The Northern Ireland Guide before, you'll notice that things have changed a little bit around here.

When we decided to start a guide to Northern Ireland a year or so ago, we didn't count on being too busy to keep things up to date! But that's what happened, and the blog fell very much by the wayside.

Our goal for the Guide was to show the world all the positive things about Northern Ireland that they don't get told via the media. There's so much going on around the province, so much regeneration and optimism that we want to share it with you.

We've decided it's time to get this site up and running properly for 2007. Over the coming weeks, we'll be pushing The Northern Ireland Guide forward in new ways. We'll be keeping our fingers on the pulse and telling you what's going on around NI.

We've upgraded the back-end of the site to a system called Drupal which can support all manner of cool interactions and we'll be rolling out new features as we go along.

In the meantime, if you've got any news or information you want us to share here on the site, please drop me a line (hmm, apparently you have to log on to use this form).

Seaforde Butterfly Farm

I strongly advise anyone considering visiting this venue to beware of the staff - rude doesn't even begin to cover it. The sign at the gate said OPEN so we drove down the ill-kept and bumpy lane to the mucky car park. Got out with 2 very excited children and walked down the lane. A jeep passed us on the lane and then stopped a few yards ahead of us. The jeep blocked the lane so we couldn't pass on either side. I could hear and see people on the other side of the jeep but they ignored us. After a few minutes I called out "Are you open today?". The response "No, we don't open until Friday", yelled at us as if it was something we should have known and then they walked away leaving us standing in the middle of the lane. Customer Service is extremely low on their agenda as, it would appear, is any attempt at upkeep of the facilities. The children were so disappointed and I was very angry and insulted. DO NOT DIRECT ANY VISITORS TO OUR SHORES TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT - THEY WILL NOT GET AN IRISH WELCOME. However, the person who did speak so rudely to us had an English accent so perhaps they want people to visit there instead!!!!
